Elder Blotter - Jan 26th

Dear Family,
Hey glad to hear all went well with Ascher and that they are all happy and all is well with them and you guys.  I am well and sorry for writing late but here in San Pablo the power went down and there was no Internet place open to do Internet so we told our leaders what happened and President said we can write today to you guys to say everything is OK. This past week the only downside was that we did not have any investigators in the church this week and we had a small attendance of about 25 people. It was small but that's what you expect of a branch here in Chile to be small ha ha.  Me and Elder Camarena are doing fantastic together its just hard sometimes to teach because he's new and does not have a ton of time.  I am his second trainer and second companion so its hard because he still has not found his style of teaching.  I am trying to help him find it so we'll see how all things go.  H
ere in the town called San Pablo we are working hard and doing the best we can.  The place  for the next two weeks with be full with Evangelicals with fiestas and what not  here in the plaza of San Pablo so it will be interesting. Its funny here in Chile how you can point out in little towns like these, WHO is the Pastor of the Churches because they ALL have fancy cars. It  makes me think inside of what the members say or think when one day their pastor does not have this nice fancy car and then the next day AFTER all the members gave him money so called "tithing" in their church he does.  I guess that's just Satan doing his hardest to destroy man from progressing back to God. But I am well here with my companion we are working hard with the members here in San Pablo and hope to put on of our investigators with date today so keep praying for us cause she really wants all this in her life, she loves the church and knows the Book of Mormon is true so all she lacks is a Dunking ha ha.  I have gotten darker I think and more tan because its sunny up here more of the time than in Puerto Montt where its cloudy and rainy. I gotta wear a lot of Sun Block. We had our Conference last week with President and that went well and he changed a couple of goals in the mission. It was 15 lessons with member and 15 others but now he changed it to 15 with member and 5 others because President really wants us to focus on working with the members here in our sectors to really help our investigators progress so that's whats new in the mission.  We hope to see a lot of success in this week with the members.  We have already seen success with them with the family home evenings we do with the members here on Mondays.  They invite their friends who are not members to hear a message not only from us but from their friends the members. Yhat's pretty much all for this week I love you and miss you tons and give tons of hugs to the little new guy from his Uncle Elder Robbie

Elder Blotter - Jan 17th

Dear Family,
Happy Birthday Mom!!! Hope you had a blast of a time with Heidi.   I’m sure it was she always makes it a great party!! ha-ha I am well in my new area called San Pablo. It is about 20 minutes from Osorno and 20 Minutes from the city of La Union. It is a tiny little city on the side of Route 5 that is the Pan-American Highway so it’s pretty funny. But I love it here in a little Branch of like 30 members. Sunday, yesterday was weird because I have never been in a branch so first time for everything ha-ha.  My companions name is Elder Camarena the only Elder from Panama and the ONLY Black Elder in the mission!!  I love the kid, he is so awesome.  We have a TON in Common. I almost feel like we both lived the same life just in different countries. He is a goalie and I am too for soccer so we leave in the mornings to do exercises and go shoot on each other at a soccer field near by in San Pablo.. I know we’re just going to kill it here in San Pablo and just make a ton of miracles happen here. There are a lot of great members here and a lot of members who know English so its funny and also we get a lot of looks in the street because sometimes the people think we’re both from the States or that I am from Germany and my companion is from the states or the other way around that he is from Colombia and I am from the States so we have fun with the people to see if they know where we’re from. I am glad to hear all is well going with Sayward and Matt and hope to see pictures next week. It was sad to leave Puerto Montt But I know I’ll have a lot of good experiences here in San Pablo. . My companion from the MTC Elder Fabrizio Actually started here in San Pablo so I came here to clean up his mess ha-ha, nah. I asked some of the members here if they remember him and they do. My Branch President actually was in CHICAGO about 10 or 15 years ago or something like that. He was at NIU with other professors learning how to teach or something like that so he showed me some pictures when he went and it was funny to see a lot of stuff from back home. There is also a returned missionary here who got back last March who served in Anaheim California Spanish/English Mission.  There are quite a few people here who speak English a little here. There are a lot of good investigators here who just need a little more help and they can get baptized so that’s our goal for this transfer to help some of the investigators reach this goal so it should be a real awesome transfer.  It weird that I am almost at a year and its January and almost the middle of January. We have a Conference with President this Thursday so it should be pretty sweet. I like the new Zone, it’s a lot smaller than the Zone of Puerto Montt and most of the Elders and the sisters I don’t know or kind of know so it’ll be a pretty sweet experience.  It’s really hot here but not as hot as Puerto Montt.  The rays here aren’t as strong is what an elder told me so that’s good in one way so yeah ha-ha but I love you and thank you for everything!!! I will keep Tori in my prayers

Elder Blotter - January 10th He's been transfered again!

Dear Family,

Hey glad to hear all is well with you and the family but I guess to move things up a step I just found out something after I wrote mom so tell mom but I am being transferred out and going to La Union with a Latin from Panama but I don’t know his name so I am going to go say goodbye to all my investigators and members here in Puerto Montt before I head out so I am excited to go and go to La Union. Oh and also I am finishing the training of this Latin so it should be interesting. Actually my companion from the MTC Elder Fabrizio started there so it will be funny to talk to all the members there and know that they know him. This past week has been good with Elder Aros and it is a stinker that I am heading out because I would love another transfer with him but it is what the lord wants not what I want but now its ok. The members here and the investigators are great and it is sad that I made a good connection here and now I have got to leave but its ok. I am just really excited now to go to La Union and see what it is all about there. I don’t really have much to say this day because now I have these thoughts in my mind that now I need to pack and get everything ready to leave so I’ll just leave you with a scripture that I read and marked this morning that I really like. It is in Ether chapter 12 verse 41 which reads:

“And now, I would commend you to seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written, that the grace of God the Father, and also the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost, which beareth record of them, may be and abide in you forever Amen.”

What we learn from this verse is that we must follow Jesus Christ by reading the scriptures of the prophets’ accounts that they have written for us for these latter days that the Holy Ghost testifies that the words of the prophets are true that Jesus in the Christ. I love you and thank you for everything and miss you tons!!

Cannot believe I will be at a year soon.

Elder Blotter - Jan 3

Hola Familia,

Happy late new years!!! Well I have been moved sectors here in Puerto Montt in a Sobre cambio. I am with an Elder Named Elder Aros from Santiago. He is really awesome and we get along  very well. I have seen him a lot throughout my mission and really looking forward to this last week and a half to work with him in this sector called Presidente Ibañez.  The Ward is a bit smaller but it has a lot of potential. Testimony meeting yesterday was small but strong with the spirit. I still need to gain the better confidence of the members here in this sector and of the investigators but I think I am moving forward pretty well with that already. I found out at 11am on the 31st in the Bus terminal when we said goodbye to Elder Service when he was finishing his mission.  I had to pack everything up pretty quickly and I was sad to leave that sector because I love all the people there and the members are so great. I had some of my investigators calling our phone telling me to come back to the sector to eat dinner with them and have once with them so it was a good feeling to see that I was loved in my sector and left a good mark there. But, I am excited to finish off this transfer with everything I got with Elder Aros I know we are just gonna kill it here. I love you all  and miss you tons!!! Thank you for all your support that you give me. The more things I want in my package I don´t know if you could do this for me but find a cheap cubs shirt that is a size L and a cheap Chicago Bears shirt that is a size XL I have two buddies here that are missionaries who have both lived in Chicago before and one likes the bears and the other the cubs so if possible send that in the package and then also just candy and what not. Thank you mom for everything I LOVE YOU!!
